How safe is your child?
The Honolulu Police is dedicated to the safety of our community. From the elderly to our youth, we strive to protect them from harm. You can help!
Over 800,000 children are reported missing each year in the United States.
If your child is missing, the most valuable tool you can have is a way to provide the police with the most current information about your child. Time is crucial , and the more information available to Police the faster they can respond.
The Police & FBI highly recommend that every child have a record of ID information & fingerprint-DNA samples available to aid in the recovery of lost or abducted children. It's a very inexpensive form of life insurance!
The purpose of the Honolulu Police Department's Keiki Print program is to provide parents with a record of their child's vital information. This is the information that will be needed by police if the child is lost or kidnapped.

The cards used provide the information needed to include: the child's name and address, date of birth, general description, including birthmarks, scars and oddities. The keiki print card also includes a block where a sample of the child's hair is attached, which can be used for DNA analysis. This card should be maintained with your important papers.
HPD conducts the keiki print at various functions, without cost to the public. Be sure to check our web site or call the Community Affairs Section at: 529-3351 for upcoming events.
Child identification cards and the keiki print program are not the same thing . An identification card, while useful, is usually laminated and therefore impossible to update. Also, the child or parent carries the ID card, while our keiki print cards are kept in one safe location, easily accessible in the event of an emergency.
For information on how to obtain a valid state identification card see Hawaii State Identification Cards at the Department of the Attorney General's Criminal Justice Data Center.
