Officer Kama and Officer Kunane were in plain clothes on special detective duty searching for a suspect when they observed an argument nearby and went to investigate.  The officers gave an order for the two males involved in the argument to leave at which time one of the males pulled a hand gun out from his pocket and shot both officers.  Officer Kama was mortally wounded and died soon after at the hospital.
