Communications Division Tour
Hello and Welcome to the Communications Division of the Honolulu Police Department. Join us for a brief tour of our division....
911 Call Taking
These friendly faces are our first line in servicing a call for assistance.
When you call 911, the emergency response operator will ask you if you need police, fire or ambulance.
If you are unable to answer, the operator will direct your call so that
you receive prompt assistance.
Over 75% of the calls to 911 are for police.
Call taking and dispatch area

When you speak to a police dispatcher or when an officer is sent for service, it occurs here. Call takers and radio dispatchers are required to be proficient typists as well as having excellent multi-tasking skills.

Multiple screens and computer terminals are used to meet the needs of officers as well as outside agencies in our goal to provide high quality real time information in an ever changing environment.
This concludes our tour of the Honolulu Police Communications Division. Thank you for stopping by.
