Communications Division Info

The Communications Division is the largest Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) in the state and serves as the PSAP for all 9-1-1 calls on Oahu. 

Mission

We will efficiently and effectively receive an emergency request and dispatch emergency services to meet that need.

Sections

The Communications Division is divided into three sections staffed by police radio dispatchers:

  • Urgent response section
  • Call taker section
  • Radio operation section

Number of Calls

In 2010, the division’s Enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) section received 900,345 calls for service, of which 668,814 calls (74 percent) were for police services.  

Our operators routed 51,724 calls to the Honolulu Fire Department, 72,932 calls to the Honolulu Emergency Services Department, and 106,875 calls for miscellaneous services during 2010.
